Home based - £25-30K (dependent on experience) - full time equivalent

We are looking for a part-time bookkeeper to help keep all of our fully digital finances in order each week and month. 
Are you a detail-oriented person, able to handle the day-to-day purchasing, financial management, and financial reporting on our grants?

We anticipate that this is an 8hour week (flexible) but could expand over time.


  • Producing month end, accounts reconciliations, expenses and accruals and management accounts

  • Preparing Quarterly VAT returns (Xero)

  • Preparing payments file each week for supplier goods and services

  • Recording financial transactions in format for grant compliance

  • Perform all activities related to the accounts payable function: including reviewing, coding, and administering payments

  • Managing profit and loss statements and balance sheets and support cash flow reporting and tracking

  • Preparing purchase orders in accordance with requests for materials

  • Researching and complying with legal requirements as they pertain to the company's operations and financial activities

  • Working with the CEO to maintain and administer the annual company budget

  • Providing administrative and clerical support as needed

  • Payroll, pension and Employees travel & expense reimbursement

  • Conduct reconciliation of the company's bank accounts and credit card activities

About you

You will:

  • Competent and experience user of Xero accounting software

  • Experience using Google Sheets and generally strong IT skills

  • Bookkeeping or accounting qualification (AAT/ ACA, CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent)

  • Broad background and track record in the accurate operation and performance of bookkeeping and basic management accounting functions

  • Experience with grants from InnovateUK and BEIS SBRI

  • Strong team working and interpersonal skills, with the ability to be flexible and adaptable within the environment of a small team

  • Methodical process-driven person, with passion for accuracy and excellence

  • Proactive, self-motivated individual capable of working on their own initiative in a constantly changing and pressurised environment and fast-developing company

  • Able to identify improvement opportunities, suggest improvements and action change

  • Working with Hi-Tech/ Startup companies an advantage
